WASSOOKEAG DAM: Lake and Dam Management Plan

WASSOOKEAG DAM: Lake and Dam Management Plan: The Council will be asked to approve a $2,450 expenditure from the Dam Reserve Account. This amount represents one third of the cost of a management plan, an amendment to the plan for $1,000 and a $650 expense to have the engineer attend a final plan presentation in May.

The Stakeholders; Dexter Lake Association, Dexter Utilities District and the Town have worked with a Consultant to produce a management plan to be followed by the Dam Operator (Randy Webber, Utility District Operator). In summary the lake levels will be maintained as follows:

Labor Day – October 1 ---} el. 432.0-432.5
October 1 – December 1 ----- } max el. 434.0 – 434.5
December 1 – April 1 ----- } el. 431.5 – 432.0
April 1 – Memorial Day -----} max el. 434.0-434.5
Memorial Day – Labor Day -----} el. 433.0 – 433.5
These levels are described on page 22-23 of the Wassookeag Lake Dam Lake and Dam Management Plan. A full copy of the Plan is available to view in the Town Office. This Plan has not yet been accepted by the Council, although it is being followed by the Operator, at this time. The Town Council will review the request to pay $2,450 for the final plan at their May 11, 2006, Council meeting. If approved the meeting between the Stakeholders and the Engineer will be held May 2, 2006.
